The annual Maclean's Magazine ranking of Canadian universities is out for 2017 and, once again, several B.C. post-secondary institutions lead the pack.

For the second year in a row, the University of Northern B.C. takes top spot in the Primarily Undergraduate category, which assesses the country's 19 smaller schools offering fewer graduate options.

In the Comprehensive Category, which rates schools that conduct a significant amount of research and also offer undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, Simon Fraser University topped the list while the University of Victoria ranked third behind University of Waterloo.

And the University of British Columbia grabbed third spot, behind McGill and U of T, in the ranking of powerhouse universities offering medical and doctoral programs.
