Police say they’re searching for a driver who struck a pedestrian and fled the scene in Saanich late Tuesday night.

Witnesses said the pedestrian was crossing against the light at Douglas Street and Cloverdale Avenue when he was hit at around 10:15 p.m.

Police confirmed the motorist was not at fault but left the scene anyway.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

Northbound lanes of Douglas Street were closed for about half an hour while police investigated.

The vehicle that struck the man was a yellow car, according to witnesses.
