Mounties are asking for the public’s help as they continue to search for an individual involved in a hit and run in Nanaimo on Friday.

Police say bike patrol officers saw a vehicle hit someone who was in a crosswalk on Front Street, near Port Place Theatre just before noon.

The driver allegedly went around the victim and later sideswiped a taxi.

A 30-year-old Nanaimo man was taken to hospital, where he was treated for a shoulder injury and received stitches to his head. He was released on Saturday morning.

RCMP say they’re looking for a mid-size black car driven by an older woman with white hair.

According to police, it could have front-end damage and possibly yellow paint on the driver’s side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 250-754-2345.
