RCMP officers searched a rural property in the Comox Valley this week after they received a tip from the public about a girl who went missing 23 years ago.

Twenty forensically trained police officers conducted a thorough two-day search and excavation of the property beginning on Tuesday.

Lindsey Nicholls was 14 years old when she went missing in Comox on Aug. 2, 1993.

It’s believed she was on her way to see friends during the BC Day long weekend, but she never arrived.

She was last seen walking down Royston Road.

Nicholls isdescribed as 5’3”, 110-115 lbs, has green eyes and blonde hair with red henna. She was wearing jeans, a khaki silk tank top, a blue and pink checkered shirt and white runners.

Officials say they’ve completed the search, but can’t share the results as the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call local police or Crime Stoppers.

“Somebody out there may know something, even if they believe it is minor or insignificant, that may assist in this investigation,” said Cpl. Tammy Douglas. “Next month would be Lindsey's 38th birthday and her family is still looking for answers.”
