Saanich police say they’ve wrapped up their investigation into the crash that killed West Shore Mountie Const. Sarah Beckett last month.

The department was asked to investigate the April 5 collision, while RCMP’s Island District General Investigations Section conducts a criminal probe into the same incident.

The Independent Investigations Office is also conducting its own probe into the crash after information came to light about police trying to halt a suspect vehicle in the minutes leading up to the collision.

IIO is tasked with determining whether the actions or inactions of West Shore Mounties may have been a contributing factor.

Saanich police spokeswoman Sgt. Julie Fast said the department submitted its findings to RCMP last week and is no longer involved with the investigation.

The RCMP has not yet made the findings public.

Beckett, a 32-year-old wife and mother of two, was killed when her cruiser was struck in a Langford intersection.
