A man was sent to hospital with significant injuries on Tuesday after he was hit by a vehicle in Saanich.

Police say it happened in the 3400-block of Quadra Street around 6:30 p.m.

The man walked out onto the road mid-block and it was dark and wet from the rain, according to police.

“One of the cars did stop in the curb lane and unfortunately that second car did not see him so he was struck by the side of the vehicle,” Saanich Police Staff Sgt. Chris Horsley said.

The man was taken to hospital.

“We’ve received one update from the hospital and we’re hopeful that this person will survive their injuries ,” Horsley said.

No charges are being considered.
