It’s that time of year again.
Island Health is offering free seasonal flu vaccinations to between October and December.
More than 90 clinics will be available for eligible residents from Port Hardy to Victoria starting in the Cowichan Valley next week.
The vaccine is free for anyone 65 and older as well as their caregivers, children and adults with chronic health conditions, health care workers, emergency responders, pregnant women, nursing home residents, and more.
Health Link BC recommends immunization as the best protection against the seasonal influenza virus, which can sometimes prove fatal in vulnerable people if left untreated.
The virus spreads from coughing, sneezing or face-to-face contact and can be transmitted 24 hours before symptoms show, up to seven days after they begin.
