Mounties in Campbell River are searching for two masked thieves who broke into an 82-year-old woman's home and robbed her at knifepoint.

The men broke into the home in the 1900-block of Holmstrom Road just after 4 p.m. on Thursday.

They were armed with a knife and stole an undisclosed number of items.

At some point during the robbery, the elderly victim pulled one of the men's masks off and managed to escape.

Investigators say she was shaken but not seriously injured in the robbery.

The thieves weren't known to the victim and have not yet been found, police say.

One of the men is described as in his early 20s, clean-shaven, about six feet tall with brownish hair, white skin, blue eyes and a thin to medium build.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspicious activity in the area when it took place is asked to call Campbell River RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
