Nanaimo RCMP are investigating after a man exposed himself to a nine-year-old girl at the Harbour Front.

The incident happened on August 12 on Front Street around 7 p.m.

A family was out for a walk with their two young children and were walking up the spiral staircase near the Javawocky Coffee House when they noticed a man sitting on a bench, police say.

According to RCMP, the mother turned to go back down the stairs to get her son when she heard her daughter calling for her.

The nine-year-old told her mom the man had pulled down his pants and exposed himself to her.

The girl’s father tried finding the man, but he had already left the area.

The man is described as white, between 50 to 60-years-old, 140 to 150 lbs, approximately 5’8”, has a slight build and short brown hair. He was wearing an olive green button down long sleeve shirt and washed out dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at (250)754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
