Victoria Police are hoping they can reunite an album of decades-old photographs with their rightful owner.

Dozens of photos, many from the 1940s, were found in an envelope in downtown Victoria’s Centennial Square on Dec. 2, according to police.

“A lot of them are family shots, there are a couple of wedding photos, old family black-and-white photos,” said Const. Matt Rutherford.

Also included in the envelope were documents with the name “William Herbert Switzer,” and police believe some of the pictures show his son and grandson.

“We’re hoping that maybe he has relatives in town, or maybe grandchildren, and they dropped these photos in their travels through Centennial Square,” Rutherford said.

The latest picture is a graduation photo possibly taken in the last 10 years.

Police have posted the full album of photos to their Flickr account.
