Original story: RCMP launched a helicopter to aid the search for an elderly woman from out of town who went missing Monday morning.
According to Victoria Police, 93-year-old Virginia Leong was last seen in the Esquimalt area at 6:30 a.m.
She reportedly left for a walk from the 400-block of Treebank Road East.
She’s not from Victoria and isn’t familiar with the area, and police say her family is very concerned about her welfare.
She’s described as 4’11” with a slim build and was last seen wearing a white jacket.
Around 2:20 p.m., police said an RCMP helicopter and Metchosin Search and Rescue crews were assisting in the search along the Gorge Waterway.
Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 immediately.
