NANAIMO - Heath Canada inspectors found bacteria in Tilray's marijuana products while conducting routine tests, which forced the company to pull three of its blends and notify its clients.

"As soon as we received those results we initiated a voluntary recall," says Tilray's Chief Science Officer Josh Eades.  He says it was a test result that sparked the recall, "we did not have reports of any adverse events either directly through patients or through Health Canada."

Satiya House Blend, Hybrid House Blend, and Indica House Blend were the three affected products.

Eades says Tilray has reached out to every customer who has purchased any of these three, and has not yet learned of any negatives effects. The company has also given instructions to its clients on how to properly destroy the product, and says it will reimburse those clients.

Eades also suggests the method of ingesting the products gives the bacteria a slim chance of survival since this product is typically combusted, baked or cooked in high heat.

"We're undergoing a rigorous review of all of our sanitation procedures."

This is the first time this facility has had a recall.
