The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising in Winnipeg and southeastern Manitoba on Friday. In Brandon and surrounding regions in the southwest, morning sunshine will likely give way to afternoon showers, courtesy of a low pressure disturbance over the area. But whether there is sunshine or showers, temperatures across most of the south will rise to the mid-teens this afternoon. Then there are those northwest winds. Sky conditions have changed often over the course of the last few days in the south, but northwest winds have persisted. Expect the same on Friday. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, intermittent light snow will continue to spread from the Arctic into parts of northern Manitoba over the next couple of days, thanks to a weakening low over Hudson Bay. A winter feel will persist over the north until the end of the weekend. After rain, snow and cool temperatures this week, conditions will finally be more pleasant in northwestern Ontario on Friday. The region will enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures reaching around 12 C. The weekend will bring sunny skies to Winnipeg, including on Mother’s Day on Sunday. Temperatures will be pleasant, though unseasonably cool. Expect highs around 11 C or 12 C both days. The normal high for this time of year for the city is 18 C. Daytime highs in the 20s are on the way by the middle of next week.
