We're breaking temperature records all over the island today! So far (and it isn't even noon) we’re seeing temperatures in the mid to high teens.

Victoria Gonzales 15.2°C

Esquimalt Harbour 13.9°C

Nanaimo 17.4°C

Race Rocks Lightstation 13.6°C

UVic 16.6°C

By the time the day is done, daytime highs will likely be even higher.

Meantime, we have wind warnings for many parts of Vancouver Island as a deep low moves across the south island. As the storm approaches,

Southeast winds of 50 to 70 km/h will develop near the Strait of Georgia this morning. Late this afternoon winds are forecast to shift to northwest, 50 km/h gusting to 80 as the low moves inland. As a result, wind warnings are in effect for Inland Vancouver Island, where southwesterly winds 60 km/h gusting to 90 will develop this afternoon. They should ease by evening. West Vancouver Island is also under a wind warning. As the storm passes, in the wake of the system, northwest winds 80 gusting to 100 km/h will develop over West Vancouver Island near noon. Greater Victoria will also feel the effects of the storm. Southwesterly winds 60 km/h gusting to 90 will develop this afternoon.

Winds will be strong enough to down tree branches or toss loose objects. My advice, watch for debris on the roads this afternoon as you drive home. The next fall storm is on its way!
