It may be early April, but this weekend forecast might just signal the beginning of barbecue season!
Thanks to a ridge of high pressure, temperatures will be in record territory tomorrow and Friday all over Vancouver Island. It’ll feel like summer has arrived early.
Here’s a quick look at some of the numbers:
Day City Forecast High Record
Thursday Victoria 20°C 18.2°C set in 1996
Thursday Port Alberni 23°C 19.7 °C set in 2009
Thursday Tofino 18°C 17.2°C set in 1976
Friday Victoria 20°C 17.8°C set in 1959
Friday Port Alberni 26°C 20.6 °C set in 2000
Friday Nanaimo 20°C inland 20.0°C set in 2000
Consider that the normal high for this time of year is about 12°C. Wow.
Sunny warm weather will continue through the weekend, although it won’t be quite as hot. Temperatures will, however, remain in the high teens for many communities. Inland areas will be pushing the 20 degree mark again.
This unseasonably warm weather comes just as the Greater Sudbury area braces for another wallop of winter. 25-30cm snow is expected by Thursday evening, prompting an official Winter Storm Warning…in Spring. Ugh.
