The BC Coroner's Service has launched an investigation after a Victoria father died in a tragic incident at a Richmond trampoline park.
In a news release, Richmond RCMP said the 46-year-old man was at the Extreme Air Park on Triangle Road with his two kids just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Family and friends have identified the man online as Jay Greenwood, a Victoria contractor and father to two girls.
He was allegedly performing a series of acrobatic maneuvers when he fell, causing serious injuries and cardiac arrest.
Police and the coroner's service haven't confirmed details, but there are reports circulating online that the accident involved the foam pit area.
The man has since died from his injuries and Richmond RCMP General Investigative Section is probing the incident.
In a statement to CTV News, Extreme Air Park said staff called 911 immediately after the man's fall and followed a dispatcher's instructions not to move him until emergency crews arrived.
"I watched the CCTV footage and it showed a loving and gentle father who was not just present with his children but engaging with them," the statement read.
A statement seen posted on the business's front door Wednesday said Extreme Air Park was "devastated by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the family involved."
BC Coroner's Service spokesman Andy Watson confirmed the agency was in the early stages of investigating the fatal accident.
It's possible that safety recommendations could come out of the investigation.
"One of the things that we do in any investigation is to look if we can make recommendations to help improve safety, public safety, so that'll be a determination we'll look at," he said.
