B.C. suspects sought after boy injured in reported assault at ‘Kreepy Kastle’ attraction

Police are investigating after an eight-year-old boy was reportedly assaulted by two men inside a carnival attraction during recent Khalsa Day celebrations in Surrey, B.C.

The Surrey Police Service says officers responded to the carnival outside a gurdwara in the 12800 block of 85 Avenue at 5 p.m. on April 19.

Investigators determined the alleged assault occurred inside a haunted house attraction called “Kreepy Kastle,” which was set up in the parking lot as part of the festivities.

“The child escaped from the males and fled outside to inform his family,” the Surrey police said in a news release Friday. “The child suffered injuries to his neck, which required treatment at a hospital.”

The SPS major crimes and special victims units have taken over the investigation. The department says the carnival operator and staff are co-operating with investigators and are not believed to be involved.

“These suspects are described as South Asian adult males wearing dark clothing,” police said in the release, accompanied by photos of the suspects.

“One of the males was wearing a turban and the other a very distinctive floral patterned brown shirt,” police said.

Investigators are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident—or who may have photos or video from in or around the “Kreepy Kastle” attraction between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on April 19—to come forward.

Any potential additional victims are also encouraged to speak with investigators.
