Pair of youths injured in 2nd Langley stabbing in as many days

Police are investigating two stabbings in as many days in Langley, but say the incidents are not related to one another.

A pair of youths were hospitalized and four suspects were arrested after a stabbing in Aldergrove on Friday afternoon, marking the second such incident in Langley in as many days.

Mounties say they received a report of “a disturbance” in the 27200 block of Fraser Highway just after 2 p.m.

Officers found two youths suffering from “apparent stab wounds” and they were taken to hospital in serious, but not life-threatening condition, the Langley detachment said.

About two hours later, police say they arrested four male suspects: three youths and one adult. They all remain in custody as the investigation continues.

“We recognize that two stabbing incidents occurring on consecutive days are understandably concerning for the community,” said Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, in a statement.

“Police can confirm that today’s incident is not related to the stabbing reported yesterday. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”

Mounties announced the arrest of a suspect Friday following a targeted stabbing in the Willoughby neighbourhood Thursday afternoon, which left a 46-year-old victim which a “serious stab wound.”

That incident took place in a townhouse complex on 199 Street near 64 Avenue around 4 p.m., and prompted involvement of the heavily armed Emergency Response Team.

A 36-year-old suspect remains in custody but has not been charged yet.
