Winter could make a return this weekend

Winter is making a brief return to southwestern Ontario. CTV's Ashley Bacon has the details.

Winter isn’t done with us yet – flurries are expected this weekend.

Friday’s forecast showed a mix of sun and clouds, with a high of 20 degrees Celsius.

Then, on Saturday, the rain returns with the risk of a thunderstorm later in the morning. Environment Canada said Waterloo Region could get between 10 and 15 mm of rain before it tapers off in the afternoon. The daytime high could reach 17 degrees Celsius.

That’s when conditions are expected to change.

“Above seasonal temperatures are coming to an end as a cold front moves in Saturday night,” CTV’s Ashley Bacon explained.

Environment Canada is predicting a 40 per cent chance of showers or flurries with a low of 0 degrees Celsius.

“Winter-like conditions make a return on Sunday with a 30 per chance of a snow and rain mix, with flurries also in the forecast for Monday,” Ashley said, adding that the warm weather will make a comeback next week. “Temperatures expected to return to seasonal by Tuesday.”
