Match ball from Canada’s win over Qatar hall of fame bound

The match ball from Canada’s 6-0 win over Qatar in Vancouver is heading to the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame.

The victory was Canada’s first in its history of the FIFA World Cup and gives its squad the opportunity to win Group B and play a Round of 32 match at BC Place. The group is theirs with a win or a tie in Wednesday’s tilt with Switzerland.

The entire Canadian Men’s National Team is expected to sign the ball at practice in Vancouver on Sunday.

In addition to the win being Canada’s first at the World Cup, Jonathan David’s hat trick was also the first scored by a player on a host team in the tournament since 1966.

The Canada Soccer Hall of Fame is located in Ottawa and, according to its website, features jerseys, medals, programmes, photographs from throughout Canadian soccer history, as well as tributes to “honoured members” like Christine Sinclair and 150 others as of March 2026
