Monday will be the coolest day of the week with scattered showers and moderate northwest winds. Rainfall totals will be unremarkable for most of the region as the main weather-maker – a low pressure system situated over the central Alberta-Saskatchewan border - slowly tracks east throughout the day. Behind that low is a narrow ridge of high pressure that will settle over B.C. and Alberta for the next couple of days. Temperatures will return to the low 20s in Calgary with a consistent mix of sun and cloud until the end of the week. Late Thursday, the first of a series of strong low-pressure systems will move from the north Pacific into central and southern British Columbia and eventually crossing over the Rockies. This new upper pattern will kick off a multi-day rain event over central and southern Alberta. It is still too far out to pinpoint rainfall locations and totals with full confidence, but at this point it seems likely this will be problematic system. Persistent rain is expected over the weekend with single-day rainfall totals up to 30 millimetres in some areas – including Calgary. Daytime highs will drop to 14 C in Calgary by Sunday with rain expected to continue until at least next Tuesday.
