A man died in a scuba diving incident in Metro Vancouver Sunday afternoon, authorities have confirmed. The West Vancouver Police Department says first responders were called to Whytecliff Park for a “scuba diver in distress” just before 1:30 p.m. Firefighters, paramedics and the Canadian Coast Guard arrived to help but the 50-year-old was declared dead at the scene. “The man’s next of kin have been notified. There are no indications of suspicious circumstances related to his sudden death,” police wrote in a statement. “The West Vancouver Police Department extends our deepest condolences to this man’s family and friends, and all those who witnessed this incident today.” The WVPD encouraged those impacted by the incident to contact Victim Services at 604-925-7468.
