A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly pulled a knife on a senior outside of a Vancouver coffee shop earlier this week, police announced Saturday. On Wednesday just after 11 a.m., the Vancouver Police Department said, officers were called to the 1600-block of Davie Street, between Bidwell and Cardero streets, after being notified about an “aggressive panhandler who targeted a 76-year-old man.” “The suspect approached the victim on a coffee shop patio, allegedly pulled out a knife, and grabbed his backpack before fleeing on foot,” police said, in a release. The VPD said a witness called 911, and police soon arrived and arrested the suspect. Police say Joshua Edward Adams has been charged with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000. Online court records say Adams was released from custody on Thursday morning, but is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28.
