Police announced Friday morning that a man was arrested and charged in relation to two break-and-enters at rural properties in Abbotsford last month. The Abbotsford Police Department said it received reports of two break-and-enters, one on Sept. 3 and the other on Sept. 14, in which someone entered a home by force and stole valuable items before fleeing the area. The first happened in the 1700 block of Bradner Road, just two kilometres away from the second house, on the 27900 block of Montesina Avenue, police added. Police didn’t specify how, but they explained they identified a suspect believed to be responsible for both robberies. A search warrant was executed at a residence on the 27200 block of Fraser Highway, where officers arrested a suspect and recovered the stolen property, according to the Abbotsford Police Department. “As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Bryan Barker has been charged with two counts of Break and Enter and one count of Disguise with Intent,” reads a statement from the department. Online court records show that Barker, born in 1978, is no longer in custody, is due to appear at the Abbotsford Law Courts on Oct. 16, and was previously released from custody in May 2026 for a separate offence. In a release, Sgt. Mike Hanninen said the “arrest and the recovery of stolen property demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted enforcement and collaborative investigative work in holding repeat offenders accountable and protecting our community.”
