As heavy thundertorms hammered Toronto, police in one downtown overpass were seen helping people out of their submerged vehicles. A CP24 camera shows three Toronto police officers escorting drivers whose vehicles were stuck in the flooded Lower Simcoe Street underpass near Bay and Lower Simcoe streets. Other police and emergency services in the GTA also reported responding to numerous calls for people stranded in their vehicles that were stuck in flooded underpasses. Heavy rain and winds battered southern Ontario on Wednesday afternoon, flooding several streets and causing tens of thousands of residents to lose power.
