‘It’s messy’: Collision closes WB collector lanes on Hwy. 401 in Scarborough

A crash in the westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 in Scarborough is slowing traffic.

Traffic is moving slowly in the westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 in Scarborough after a collision on Friday morning.

The collision occurred near McCowan Road.

“This vehicle did a total 360 and is now facing the wrong way,” Traffic Specialist Meital Sperling said, adding that all collector lanes are now closed and traffic is being forced into express lanes at Markham Road.

“If this problem stays there much longer… it is going to mess things up really quickly,” she said.

Sperling said while it is just a brief delay so far, “it’s messy” already.

She urged drivers to leave “a tonne of extra time” if you are commuting in the area.
