Weather played a role as three more boats washed up in Cadboro Bay over the last day, according to officials.

Strong winds whipped up larges waves and three vessels broke loose from their anchors, getting pushed onto the shore.

The owners of the boats were contacted and two of them made arrangements with the Canadian Coast Guard to get the vessels removed, possibly on Wednesday.

The third vessel is believed to be an abandoned derelict boat.

A new task force launched by the federal government says the issue of washed-up and abandoned boats needs to be solved.

It's called for collaboration between local, provincial and the federal government to come up with concrete solutions to solving the problem.

A wind warning issued for parts of Vancouver Island including Greater Victoria was lifted late Tuesday afternoon. The tsunami alert issued for much of B.C.'s coast early Tuesday played no role in the boats washing ashore.
