Portions of central Saskatchewan are slated to receive some significant snowfall later this week. According to a special weather statement issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) early Tuesday morning, a large swath of central Saskatchewan is expected to receive upwards of 10 to 15 centimetres of snow Wednesday night. The affected area includes the communities of North Battleford, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Humboldt and Yorkton. In the statement, the weather agency noted the low-pressure system is expected to bring greater accumulations of snow over higher terrain. “The exact location of heaviest snow remains uncertain, but significant accumulations are likely in some areas,” the statement read. The weather agency ended by advising those in the affected areas to prepare for possible school or event cancellations and to cancel travel plans to avoid the worst conditions.
