Saskatchewan’s 2026 tornado count has reached 40 after researchers confirmed another twister touch-down from July. In a satellite imagery review, the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) found a weak damage path through a forested area northwest of Birch Hills in central Saskatchewan. “High-resolution Google Earth satellite imagery also revealed visible treefall along the path,” read an NTP report. The tornado was classified with an EF1 intensity rating—with a maximum wind speed of 145 kilometres per hour, a track length of 2.19 km and a maximum path width of 70 metres. Its motion was tracked from the southwest and was estimated to have started around 6:45 p.m.
