Saskatchewan RCMP have identified and ticketed a driver who reportedly impersonated a police officer. Mounties launched the investigation last week after Leader RCMP received a report that an SUV used blue and red flashing lights to conduct a traffic stop near Lancer, Sask., a special service area roughly 50 kilometres southeast of Leader. An initial investigation determined that a truck pulled over onto the shoulder of Highway 32 after seeing the emergency lights flash behind them. However, none of the SUV’s occupants approached the truck and the truck eventually drove away. In a Monday update, Mounties said the person was fined for equipping a non-emergency vehicle with emergency equipment. They also found two sets of imitation police lights in the person’s possession. Mounties said they don’t believe the driver approached any other vehicles with their illegal emergency lights activated.
