Maple Creek RCMP respond to serious Highway 1 crash

RCMP are investigating a serious collision on Highway 1 in southwest Saskatchewan that has closed the Trans-Canada near Piapot.

A major collision has closed Highway 1 near the community of Piapot in southwest Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan RCMP reported just after 4 p.m. Monday, officers were on the scene of a serious crash approximately one kilometre east of the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 614.

“As this investigation is in preliminary stages, we do not have additional details to share at this time,” the service said in the update.

According to Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline, a collision blocked both eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada.

Piapot is located around 340 kilometres southwest of Regina.
