Nearly 100 charities from across Saskatchewan took centre stage at a red carpet event in Regina on Thursday celebrating the fourth annual Friendraiser. The theme, Rolling out the Red Carpet: A Spotlight on Community, aimed to show the public how local organizations are supporting communities across the province. The Saskatchewan Community Foundation hosted a free showcase as a chance for residents to learn more about the programs funded through local donations and endowments. “This is such an opportunity for the community to come out and learn about the charitable sector, learn about all the good things happening right here,” said Donna Ziegler, chief executive officer of the foundation. The foundation, which is marking 57 years of supporting charities across Saskatchewan, says it granted more than $7.5 million to local organizations in 2025. Those grants support a range of initiatives, from basic needs and social services to arts, culture and recreation programs. Thursday’s event featured live entertainment, awards, interactive displays and local refreshments, with guests invited to walk a red carpet before entering the main hall. Foundation representatives, donors, volunteers and charity staff were on hand to explain their work and answer questions from the public and media. Organizers say bringing dozens of charities together in one room helps residents understand the scale of charitable work happening in Saskatchewan and how it connects to everyday life in their communities. They also hope the event encourages more people to donate, volunteer or learn about how community foundations function as a bridge between donors and local causes.
