Mounties are investigating after someone shot a pellet gun at a bus in View Royal Wednesday morning.

West Shore RCMP were called to Craigflower Road near Admirals Road after pellets hit the window of a BC Transit bus with passengers on board.

The pellets did not enter the bus and no one was injured, according to RCMP. Two windows on the bus were left shattered.

Officers spend the morning investigating and say they'll update the public once they have more information.

BC Transit released a statement on the incident saying it was "working diligently with police to find the person or persons responsible for this act that risks serious harm to drivers, customers and the public."

Several years ago, police investigated a series of similar attacks on the West Shore that cost BC Transit nearly $12,000.

Following 10 incidents of pellet guns being fired at buses, RCMP stepped up patrols on Sooke Road and West Coast Road, and Mounties and BC Transit staff maintained a presence on buses to increase safety.

Anyone with information on the latest incident is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
