A potential salmonella contamination has prompted the recall of one lot of a type of herbal tea sold in B.C. and across the country.

Traditional Medicinals “Throat Coat Lemon Echinacea” tea is promoted as relieving symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections.

Health Canada says the potential contamination means it can pose a serious health risk for elderly, the very young, pregnant women or anyone with a weakened immune system.

The lot number of the affected batch is 19 and the tea has an expiry date of February 2021.
