Police have arrested a young man accused of exposing himself to a University of Victoria student Sunday night.

A woman was walking on a popular trail on the campus near Gordon Head Road when she saw the suspect standing by some bushes.

He yelled at her after she passed him, at which point she turned around to see him masturbating, according to police.

UVic campus security was called to the scene and found the suspect, who was then arrested by Saanich Police.

He faces one charge of performing an indecent act, and police say they’re probing similar events that may net further charges.

The youth is being held in custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Sept. 12, 2016.

The arrest comes after two similar incidents on the university campus in the last week.

Oak Bay Police say on Sept. 5, a woman was jogging near Ring Road at 6:45 a.m. when a man tried to grab her.

She evaded him and then confronted him, causing him to get on a mountain bike and ride away. The woman told police that the same man had approached her the day before, stepping out from bushes along Gordon Head Road. He was described as being in his 20s and wearing a black hoodie.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 10, an 18-year-old woman jogging on a trail at UVic around 7:50 p.m. reported that a man between 19 to 21 years old grabbed her buttocks.

She said he was riding a road bike with a Bluetooth speaker on his handlebars that had rap music playing, and a skateboard attached to the rear of the bike.

Police aren't saying whether they believe the suspect in the latest incident is connected to a series of indecent acts and sexual assaults that took place around the Gordon Head area in June and July.

In those incidents, women were targeted by a young white man on a bike or a skateboard who either exposed himself or groped them in a sexual manner.
