Woman in critical condition after being found with stab wounds on Rideau St.

A woman in her 20s is in critical condition after a stabbing on Rideau and Cumberland streets Tuesday afternoon.

A woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in downtown Ottawa on Tuesday afternoon.

An Ottawa paramedics vehicle found the victim with stab wounds in the area of Rideau and Cumberland streets at approximately 4:45 p.m., according to spokesperson Nicolas Guertin.

She was treated on scene before being transported to hospital in critical but stable condition, Guertin said.

In an emailed statement, Ottawa police say officers responded to an intersection two blocks away at Cumberland Street and Daly Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. for reports of a “serious assault.”

Police confirmed both intersections are part of the same investigation. The victim’s injuries were later deemed to be non-life threatening.

No arrests were announced.

Police tape and officers were seen in front of an apartment building at the intersection of Rideau and Cumberland.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.

A man was also stabbed and critically injured a block away at the intersection of George and Dalhousie streets late Monday evening. No arrests have been announced in that incident.
