Teen charged after child allegedly assaulted at eastern Ontario daycare: OPP

A 14-year-old is facing charges after a child was allegedly sexually assaulted at an eastern Ontario daycare, according to police.

Ontario Provincial Police launched a child sexual assault investigation last week.

“On Sunday, February 22, 2026, the Quinte West OPP received a report that a child had been sexually assaulted by a youth at a daycare in Trenton,” police said in a media release.

A teenager is facing charges of invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age, sexual interference and sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.

Police say the accused cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“Investigators have notified the parents and guardians of other children who attend the daycare to ensure they are aware of the investigation,” the OPP said.
