Ottawa Valley resort offering gas gift cards to visitors as prices approach $2 a litre

Calabogie Peaks Resort in the Ottawa Valley is offering visitors an incentive this summer in the form of a $100 gas gift card. CTV’s Camille Wilson reports.

An Ottawa Valley resort wants to help visitors with the cost of gasoline during their visit.

Calabogie Peaks Resort is offering a $100 gas card hotel special for visitors this summer as gas prices flirt with $2 a litre.

“It’s our way of making your mountain-lake escape a little easier, a little more rewarding, and a little more inviting,” Calabogie Peaks said in a media release.

“Whether you’re planning a quiet weekend away, a summer adventure, or simply a change of scenery close to nature, Calabogie Peaks is here to welcome you with genuine hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and the kind of relaxed experience that helps you feel at home.”

According to the Calabogie Peaks Resort website, visitors who book two nights at the resort will receive a $100 gas card when they check out.

“We’re always trying to make things for our guests a lot more fun, a lot more enjoyable, more accessible so we come up with some fun ideas,” Liz Murphy, co-owner of Calabogie Peaks Resort, told CTV News.

“This is one of the ideas that our team came up with to come and enjoy what we have to offer. Just relax, be taken care of and then on your checkout, pick up a $100 gift card for gas on the way out.”

The offer is valid for stays from Sunday night through Thursday night only.

“I think that’s a significant amount,” Dan Neuman, a Calabogie Peaks visitor, said. “We’re an hour and a half a bit from the city of Ottawa and people are looking for things to do that involve staying in Canada. So, I think that’s a great deal for anyone wanting to come here.”

Calabogie Peaks Resort is located on Barrett Chute Road in Calabogie, Ont., 102 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa.

CAA is offering a “fuel up and stay” exclusive package at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, with a $50 gas card.
