Four injured, 1 critically after ‘high-speed’ south Ottawa crash

A woman is in critical condition and three others were injured after a high-speed crash in Ottawa’s south end on Saturday evening.

Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Neil Martin tells CTV News that several emergency crews responded to the intersection of Barnsdale Road and Trail Road near Highway 416 at approximately 6:12 p.m.

Seven people were involved in the collision, described as a “high-speed” two-vehicle crash.

A total of four people were assessed and treated at the scene. Three were transported by ambulance to hospital, according to Martin.

A woman suffered “multi-systems trauma” and was taken to the trauma centre in critical condition. Another woman also was also transported to the trauma centre in serious but stable condition.

A third female was transported to CHEO in stable condition. Her age was not provided.

A fourth woman was treated at the scene with minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.

Ottawa police say Barnsdale Road is closed in both directions between Borrisokane and Trail roads.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
