High winds are cause for yet another delay on the Johnson Street Bridge.

The decommissioning of the old blue bridge was scheduled for today and Wednesday, but strong winds have put a halt on the project.

If the wind dies down, removal is expected to start up again tomorrow and finish this Thursday.

The same closures on the new bridge between 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. will be in place for the two days. The bridge is open to all traffic for the rest of today (Tues., April 17).

The city says it’s possible the work could extend to Friday, if more time is needed. Similar closures are to be expected.

Strong wind previously caused problems back in January when the new deck span was to be lifted into place.
