Two youths accused of making a bomb threat in West Nipissing

Ontario Provincial Police say two young people have been located and identified following a bomb threat Monday at an elementary school in West Nipissing.

The threat was made near the end of the school day, around 3 p.m. May 11, police said, and came “from an anonymous source.”

Most students had left

“At the time of the incident, the majority of students had already left for the day,” the OPP said in a news release May 12.

“As a precaution, the school was evacuated and temporarily closed while police conducted the initial investigation.”

A search of the school failed to find any threats or explosive devices.

“The youths, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were dealt with through community support programs,” police said.

The name of the school involved is being withheld “to protect the identities of the youths involved,” the OPP added.
