Sudbury police say a 19-year-old man was arrested with a loaded handgun and cocaine Friday just hours after a deadly shooting in the Gatchell area and two more suspects are at large. “Through the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting on June 13, on Clemow Avenue, officers identified, located and arrested the person believed to be responsible for the shooting,” Greater Sudbury Police Service said in an update Monday morning. Officers with the emergency response unit arrested the suspect around 6:30 p.m. June 13 on Barry Downe Road in the New Sudbury area, police said. A gun and 30.5 grams of cocaine worth about $3,050 was found on him during a search. Two people were shot and one of them, a 40-year-old woman, died. He is charged with second-degree and attempted murder with a firearm along with breach of probation, drug trafficking and a list of firearms charges. A total of 18 charges have been laid against him in relation to the incident that happened around noon on Friday. The accused remains in custody after appearing in court Saturday. “Based on the investigation, detectives have confirmed that two other individuals were involved in the incident. Both individuals remain at large,” police said. “Detectives continue to follow up on leads and information to identify and locate both individuals.” Anyone with information about the incident or two wanted suspects is asked to call police at 705-675-9171 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.
