The Sault police drug enforcement and crime suppression units seized $43,605 in suspected fentanyl and cocaine from an Elmwood Avenue home Wednesday. Detectives executed a search warrant around 10:45 a.m. and found two suspects inside the residence. “The search located approximately 225.81 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 97.33 grams of suspected cocaine, $2,760 in Canadian currency, drug packaging materials, a digital scale, a cutting agent and a variety of ammunition,” Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Thursday. A 44-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were both charged with drug trafficking, careless storage of ammunition and possession of property obtained by crime. The man is also facing two counts of possessing ammunition while under a prohibition order. Both suspects were held in custody pending bail hearings.
