A 16-year-old from North Bay is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop on Highway 63.

The incident took place Canada Day around 3 a.m. when Ontario Provincial Police officers on patrol noticed a vehicle in an eastbound ditch on the highway.

“While speaking with the driver, the officer observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment,” the OPP said in a news release July 8.

“As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.”

The teen was charged with multiple impaired driving offences, their driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
