North Bay man charged in overnight robbery

A 32-year-old local man is facing multiple charges after police responded to a robbery call at a North Bay home.

Police said officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of Lakeshore Drive at about 10 p.m. on May 12.

“The accused allegedly brandished multiple edged weapons while demanding items from the victim,” said police in a news release.

When officers arrived, they located the suspect and made an arrest without incident. During the arrest, police also executed an outstanding warrant for two counts of failing to comply with probation.

“The response was quick and well coordinated by our patrol officers, who quickly de-escalated the situation, located the accused and safely made the arrest without incident,” said acting Insp. Jason Long.

The accused has been charged with assault with a weapon, robbery with violence and three offences for failing to comply with probation orders.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
