Manslaughter charge laid after death at Thunder Bay hospital: police

A 21-year-old man is in custody facing a manslaughter charge following an investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service into a death at a local hospital.

Officers received a report from a hospital on April 6 regarding an individual who had died after arriving with injuries consistent with an assault.

“The investigation determined the victim was initially transported to hospital on April 5, 2026, following an altercation at a local hotel,” police said in a news release.

Police said members of the service immediately began an investigation.

On April 9, officers located a suspect and took them into custody.

As a result of the investigation, the 21-year-old man was charged with manslaughter.

The accused has been remanded into custody with a future court date.
