Officials within the Municipality of French River are looking to the public for help as it continues to deal with encroaching water in its watershed. At this stage, more than 4,000 sandbags have already been distributed and they estimate they have only a few hundred prepared bags left. The northern Ontario community is expecting more rain later into the week with an approaching weather system. Several areas already impacted by rising water Several areas of concern have already been seeing some water including Bear Lake, Wolseley Bay, Ranger Bay and Dry Pine Bay. The municipality told CTV News that it is aware of 50 homes so far that have seen some level of flooding. Volunteers asked to report to Alban Fire Hall Those interested in helping are being encouraged to show up at the Alban Fire Hall on Highway 64, daily at 8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver and to bring a shovel.
