Fentanyl, meth seized in northern OPP drug raid

Two men from Cobalt, Ont., are facing multiple drug trafficking charges following an Ontario Provincial Police investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant.

On June 16, members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, with assistance from other teams, including the canine unit, carried out the warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on Nickle Street in the northern community.

“As a result of the investigation, officers arrested two individuals and seized suspected illicit drugs, cash, cellular phones and drug trafficking paraphernalia,” said OPP in a news release.

The seized items included about 251 grams of suspected fentanyl, four grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 402 methamphetamine tablets, four oxycodone tablets, $330 in cash, two cellular phones and drug trafficking paraphernalia – including a scale and a debt list.

Multiple charges laid

A 39-year-old man and a 68-year-old man, both from Cobalt, were each charged with four drug trafficking offences. The 39-year-old faces an additional charge of breaching his conditional sentence order.

Both accused were held for a bail hearing in Haileybury.
