A three-vehicle collision on Highway 17 involving a transport truck sent the driver of a passenger vehicle to hospital by air ambulance Monday night. The crash happened east of Nairn Centre around 5 p.m. and prompted police to shut down the highway for about two hours between Ella Road and Ronka Road. “One driver was airlifted to a hospital in Sudbury by Air Ornge with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Ontario Provincial Police Const. Berkley Parisien told CTV News in an email Tuesday morning. “The collision is still under investigation, but at this point, there are no charges pending.” The road fully reopened at 7:22 p.m. Police are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
