The man charged in connection with the 2025 death of a Timmins woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Dale Head, 39, entered the plea in court on Tuesday afternoon. He was charged in connection with the death of 57-year-old Paula Mallette. The court heard that Head visited Mallette at her residence around 8:15 a.m. on March 18, 2025, and the two used cocaine before becoming involved in an altercation. According to facts presented in court, Head struck Mallette in the back of the head with a wrench and continued the assault with a kitchen pot. Head left the residence following the incident but returned later that evening with a friend after becoming concerned when Mallette did not answer his calls. The pair found Mallette dead inside the residence and Head’s friend contacted local police. Head was arrested on March 25 and was originally charged with first-degree murder, but the charge was later amended to second-degree as part of the court proceedings. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 29.
